Ask, Humanity... is a participatory creative research initiative in collaboration with humanities for... a division of Bath Spa University, inviting individuals and communities to return to the power of questions at this moment of profound technological and societal change. It gathers the questions that matter most, across generations, cultures, and lived experience and weaves them into a shared body of inquiry and expression.

The heart of this initiative activates the essential human capacities cultivated through the humanities: critical thinking, reflection, creativity, storytelling, research and cultural awareness.

Imagine the possibilities of what we can discover and create without a rush to the perfect answers. And how, when our questions and expressions are woven together, we may begin to see that we are far more unified than we think and feel. 

Humanities for Expression is incubating its creative writing, participatory and creative research initiatives in collaboration with Humanities for…, a strategic initiative at Bath Spa University housed within the School of Writing, Publishing and the Humanities.

humanities for... puts the humanities at the center of thinking, decision making, and action. It integrates humanistic perspectives with other disciplines and external contexts, acting as an agent for change through convening, collaboration, and creative inquiry. Its shared purpose is anchored in four themes: place and placemaking; purposeful writing; arts and humanities in professional practice and public policy; and tangible and intangible heritage and culture.

Our collaborative initiatives explore how we re-center the humanities and more widely, culture as essential infrastructure for navigating a period of profound technological and social transformation.

At its heart, Forest of Imagination exists to reconnect people with the natural world through creativity, shared imagination, and a renewed sense of relationship to place.

Forest of Imagination is a partnership between Grant Associates, House of Imagination, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, and Bath Spa University inspired by co-founders Dr. Penny Hay & Andrew Grant, working in collaboration with the wider creative, cultural, and educational community to reimagine familiar spaces.

It is a living example of collective action  demonstrating how creativity and imagination can bring people together to reimagine our relationship to each other, to place, and to the world around us.
